ShillerMath Philosophy
ShillerMath's mission is to make the US #1 in math. The K-7 math curriculum is based on the philosophy that:
1) each student deserves a personalized math education specific to that student; the only appropriate label is the student's name
2) students have different learning styles: visual, tactile, auditory, and kinesthetic; a successful curriculum must address them all
3) each student learns at his or her own pace; focus and concentration skills are only developed when students are allowed to achieve closure
4) students aren't taught math: they learn math; only by hitting obstacles, negotiating roadblocks, and finally getting to "aha!" will children love and excel at math
We believe that a standards-based curriculum with the flexibility to focus in and build on each student's individual strengths will maximize test scores through real math learning. ShillerMath achieves this goal by providing authoritative, standards-based lessons that meet (and usually exceed) NCTM standards using all the learning styles, ensuring each child reaches his or her full math potential.
